King Felipe: His speech to the nation was not well received

King Philip VI of Spain (52) made a television address at his residence northwest of Madrid on Wednesday, in which he spoke about the coronavirus crisis and the current state of emergency. On the one hand, it was the most watched speech of his reign. As reported by "20minutos.es", "a total of 15,617,000 Spaniards followed at least one minute of speech". On the other hand, loud protests arose in the country at the same time.

Because of the coronavirus curfew, they hit pans and pots on the balconies and windows. The aim was to "donate the alleged assets of the former king Juan Carlos I, against whom the Swiss public prosecutor is investigating, to the health care system to help overcome the coronavirus crisis". Spain is badly affected by the pandemic.

King Felipe succeeded his father, King Juan Carlos (82), on the throne in 2014. For some years now, members of the Spanish royal family have been causing scandals on a regular basis.
