For their first official visit to Greenland, the Danish royals King Frederik and Queen Mary are relying on family support.

For their first visit to Greenland as the new Danish royal couple, King Frederik X (56) and Queen Mary (52) are counting on family support. On the second day of their eight-day marathon of appointments in Greenland, which, like the Faroe Islands, belongs to the Danish kingdom, the couple received support from their two youngest children, Prince Vincent (13) and Princess Josephine (13). The Danish royal family shared official photos of the family appearance on its Instagram channel.

Danish royals on a “special mission”

The Danish royals’ journey began on Saturday, June 29, in Greenland’s northernmost city, Qaanaaq. On Sunday, June 30, the Danish royal couple and the twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine finally appeared in Qeqertarsuaq in Greenland. In several Instagram photos, the Danish royals can be seen in thick winter clothes on a research boat in front of a huge iceberg backdrop.

As the article states, the royal family was on a “special mission”. A whale microphone was installed at the Arctic station of the University of Copenhagen, which should give researchers insights into the life of marine animals all year round.

“Royal Run” with Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine

The next item on the afternoon’s program was the “Qeqertarsuaq Race,” a race intended for all residents of the island. Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine also took part in the race, for which King Frederik gave the starting signal, the palace further announced.

The Danish royals will be in Greenland with their royal yacht Dannebrog until July 6th, as the palace recently announced.
