Prince William and King Frederik watched the European Championship match between England and Denmark in Frankfurt am Main side by side. As passionate as the football fans are, they get along well in the stands.
It is the passion for football that unites both: On Thursday evening, 20 June 2024, Prince William, 41, and King Frederik, 56, met again after three years. As in 2021, the European Football Championship brought them together again – once again as opponents. England played against Denmark in the second preliminary round match. A heated affair, also for the royal football fans. But there was no sign of a tense atmosphere!

The European Championship preliminary round match between England and Denmark ends as diplomatically as the joint Instagram post by Prince William and King Frederik reads: 1:1 draw. Shortly before the start of the match, the British heir to the throne and the King of Denmark published a joint snapshot from the stadium in Frankfurt am Main.

This not only reveals that Princess Josephine, 13, was also allowed to travel to Germany. There, the two football fans wrote in the spirit of their royal bond: “May the best team win.”

As diplomatic as Frederik and William appear here, the subsequent official photos of them from the stadium suggest that they really mean it.
Princess Josephine also warmly welcomes William
Their greeting was more than warm. William and Frederik shook hands firmly and touched each other’s arms. Josephine also beamed when she was allowed to shake the prince’s hand.

Shortly before the game begins, Prince William and King Frederik can be seen having an animated conversation. Their body language seems relaxed and easygoing, they laugh and seem to be enjoying themselves together.
No sign of competition! At least on the surface. Even though Frederik and William are known to be passionate football fans and cheered on their teams during the game, the two royals still seem to get on brilliantly with each other.
