Famous musician reveals close friendship with regent

After King Frederik was proclaimed regent, some people close to him commented on him. Now Danish music star Christopher is following suit: He’s opening up about his close friendship with the monarch and revealing why he occasionally “smacks the royal on the backside.”
King Frederik, 55, has not only been celebrated since changing throne in mid-January: First, he continued to dominate the headlines with his alleged affair with Genoveva Casanova, 47, and after he became regent, he was criticized for the number of vacations he took. In the past few weeks, various people have also commented on Queen Mary’s husband, 52, most recently his ex-girlfriend, singer Maria Montell, 55. Now music star Christopher, 32, is also speaking out and making his close connection to him Monarchs publicly.
Danish singer Christopher on King Frederik: “I’ll give him a slap on the ass”
In an interview with “Euroman” magazine, Christopher reveals that he has met King Frederik privately several times. During his world tour, the “When I Get Old” interpreter received a text message from the monarch in which he asked the singer to be his padel partner. According to the publication, there is a private padel court in North Zealand where King Frederik apparently likes to practice the sport, which is a mixture of tennis and squash, with selected partners.
In the interview, the singer, who has been married to the Danish model Cecilie Haugaard, 33, since 2019 and has two daughters with her, confirms that he has already had one or two literal exchanges of blows with the regent – that has brought the two men together. “I just call him Frede and give him a slap on the backside when he makes a mistake,” says Christopher.
Maria Montell unpacks about the monarch
At the beginning of April, Maria Montell remembered her relationship with King Frederik in the podcast “112 för brustna hjärtan”. The regent and the musician were in a relationship at the end of the 1990s. “It’s terrible to have to stand up and announce to the entire Danish population that you’re in love with someone,” Svensk Damtidning quoted her as saying. During this time she felt judged by people she didn’t even know.

Montell found it difficult to deal with the attention that their liaison received. However, she could not resist the charm of the then young heir to the throne. “He did everything in his power to get me and I got carried away,” Maria Montell confessed.
