Today we celebrate 20 years of Kingdom Heartsa series of role-playing games mixing the worlds of Final Fantasy and disney in an original world. The first episode was indeed released on March 28, 2002 on PlayStation 2 in Japan. The saga was then able to forge its own legend via sequels and spin-offs of any kind, and even if the arc sora seems to have ended with Kingdom Hearts IIIit will not stop there.

Its history and its success will be duly celebrated during the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary Event this April 10, 2022 in Tokyo. It is not impossible that one of the projects in production will be unveiled on this occasion, but the absence of a retransmission in live leaves little hope. In the meantime, the anniversary is this Monday, and the initiatives to mark it are not jostling at the gate.
Even Tetsuya Nomura, franchise director and character designerapologizes for not having prepared anything, explaining that he has only started drawing yesterday to be able to present new illustrations at next month’s event. On the other hand, another team of Square-Enix did the job calling on artist Robert Ferrari to pay homage to the Kingdom Hearts cover art by placing the Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII Remake : the result is a pleasure to see and should adorn the wallpapers of some fans of the franchises.
