Kippy CAT: a small GPS collar to track your cat and help it keep fit

GPS collars allow you to track the movements of your pet, and sometimes more. This was already the case with Kippy’s EVO, which is also responsible for analyzing the physical activity of the animal. The Italian start-up is back with a new model capable of doing the same, but more specifically for cats. The previous model can also be used on cats, but is more suitable for dogs because of its imposing size. Kippy has also revised his speech in this sense, and chooses a name that should avoid any confusion: CAT, quite simply.

A collar made for cats

The main novelty of the Kippy CAT therefore lies in its format. Thinner and elongated, it is presented as 25% smaller than the EVO. The new model is also a bit lighter (less than 35g) and it should be noted that the CAT is ready to go. While the previous model consists of a small box to be fixed on a collar, the Kippy offers a complete solution with an integrated collar. To limit the risk of strangulation in the event of a collision, an automatic opening system is provided and the assembly is obviously waterproof; we are talking about an IP67 certification.

Once around the feline’s neck, the CAT first allows you to follow its movements. To do this, it is equipped with a GPS chip, and offers Bluetooth, wifi and 4G connections to send data to a smartphone and a mobile application. The latter makes it possible to create virtual limits to be alerted if the animal exceeds them, but also to trigger light and sound signals on the collar to find it if necessary, day or night.

Tips for keeping your pet healthy

Additionally, a gyroscope and accelerometer allow the tracker to gather additional information about cat activity. It should thus be possible to know whether he is jumping, playing or eating, for example. All the data is further analyzed using an algorithm developed with the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Milan to assign the animal a Health Rate and define objectives for the keep in top shape. Different advice can also be given, if a sudden drop in activity is detected for example.

If it does not go so far as to raise the animal’s heart rate like a Smart Dog Collar, obviously intended for dogs, the Kippy CAT still seems able to offer enough activity monitoring. complete. To take advantage of it, however, you will have to think about recharging it every 4 to 12 days depending on the habits of the cat, but also take out a subscription ranging from 3.33 to 10.99 €/month depending on the level of services and the duration of the service. ‘commitment. The Kippy CAT is available at the recommended retail price of €69.99.
