Kirby in Mech Mode is the cutest thing you’ll see today

Available since February 24, 2023 on Nintendo Switch, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is the port of a Wii game in which the famous pink bouboule displays all her cuteness.

We challenge you to find cuter than Kirby. You don’t know Kirby?! But, yes: it’s Nintendo’s little pink bouboule who loves to swallow everything in its path, in joy and good humor. His gluttony allows him to gain powers that help him in his adventure, consisting of avoiding traps and enemies in a series of levels. On February 24, 2023, Kirby returns to Nintendo Switch with Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxeport of a Wii game with a few bonuses.

In reality, we found it cuter than Kirby: Kirby, but in a mech version. This transformation was not in the original title (like Kirby sable), and is one of the few novelties of Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe — experience of a certain classicism, but that Kirby fans will be delighted to (re)discover. Here, the hero must help Magolor find the parts of his crashed ship on Dream Land. A thrilling storyline!

Kirby’s facial expressions are really chewable

Kirby is a character who loves to eat. He is able to swallow anything that gets in his way. There a banana or a Japanese donut to regain some health, here a knight in armor to gain a sword. By eating certain enemies, Kirby can gain special abilities. He can, for example, become a ninja allowing him to throw stars or even turn into a tornado. From this chameleon side is born a multitude of possibilities to defend oneself, but also to unearth certain secrets. A precious object is blocked by blocks of ice? All you have to do is spit fire to melt them and access the treasure.

The mech is really the star of Kirby’s transformations. Admire the look: a pink bouboule wearing a helmet equipped with laser cannons and thrusters. Now, pay attention to his gestures: Kirby seems ultra-determined with his menacing gaze making him more offensive. This is our excuse for pointing out how well the animations of Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe are successful. The game is far from being the most beautiful of the Nintendo Switch catalog, but it finds in minute details the way to impress. When Kirby goes in the water, a little snorkel mask appears — and it’s cute. The artistic direction of the game is so cute, that you never want to get rid of enemies. It’s almost cruel.

Otherwise, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is very classic. It imposes a form of routine when you play it. It does not invent much, and is based on a simplistic gameplay suitable for all audiences (you can activate aids for the youngest, or even play it with several). The challenge is not very high, unless you want to collect all the cogs that unlock all the additional challenges.

Worthy heir to the first episodes published on Game Boy in the 90s, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land was already nothing very surprising when it was released on Wii. The Deluxe suffix, which indicates additional content, will not change this. Do you love Kirby? You will love Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe. Do you hope for more innovations? Instead, play Kirby and the Forgotten Worldwhich transposes the codes of the saga into 3D and which is also available on Nintendo Switch.
