Klopp drama at Old Trafford
Manchester United spectacularly knocks Liverpool out of the FA Cup

Incredible game in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup: Liverpool FC failed dramatically against their big rivals Manchester United. The Red Devils save themselves late into extra time. There the Klopp team takes the lead again. Then it will be spectacular.

Jürgen Klopp has to write off the first of four possible titles in his farewell season at Liverpool FC after a cup drama. In a spectacular quarter-final of the English FA Cup, the Reds were eliminated by arch-rivals Manchester United 3:4 (2:2, 2:1) after extra time. United professional Amad Diallo scored the winner in stoppage time. Klopp has two more chances: Liverpool is well in the race in the championship and the Europa League, and the Reds have already won the League Cup. Klopp, in office since 2015, is leaving Liverpool in the summer.

Scott McTominay pushed the ball over the line for Manchester United after just ten minutes. However, the offensive player missed the second goal after 35 minutes. Then the Klopp team turned up the heat: World champion Alexis Mac Allister scored the 1-1 (44th minute), superstar Mohamed Salah turned the match around (45th + 2nd).

Liverpool missed their third goal after the break and were punished for it shortly before the end: Antony made it 2-2 and then pounded his chest like crazy. Immediately before the end of regular time, Rashford missed a huge chance to score the late winning goal for United (90+4). Standing alone, he put the ball just past the far post.

In extra time, Man United were closer to the third goal, but Liverpool scored. A deflected shot from Harvey Elliott landed in the goal (105th). But the team of the criticized coach Erik ten Hag struck back again: Marcus Rashford scored 3-3 (112th). Diallo’s shot into the far corner caused a storm of celebration at Old Trafford shortly before the end. After celebrating, the goalscorer had to leave the field with a yellow-red card. However, Liverpool never came back.

With a lot of effort, Chelsea FC also reached the semi-finals with a 4:2 (2:0) win against second division leaders Leicester City. Champions Manchester City had already beaten Newcastle United 2-0 on Saturday. Second division club Coventry City won 3-2 at Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers. The semi-finals will take place at Wembley Stadium in London.
