Klopp sees a draw from the stands
Liverpool remains only a minimal CL chance

Liverpool have qualified for the Champions League for seven consecutive seasons. This series could end this year: a draw against Aston Villa puts the goal a long way off. Jürgen Klopp’s team needs a lot of luck now.

Liverpool are in danger of missing out on qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in seven years. The team of German coach Jürgen Klopp did not get more than 1-1 (0-1) against Aston Villa in the Premier League home game, while competitor Manchester United won 1-0 (1-0) in Bournemouth.

Three points off third and fourth with just one game left, the 2019 Champions League winners will have to hope for Man United or Newcastle United to lose both their catch-up game and their last game of the season. In the case of Newcastle, Liverpool would also have to come back from a goal difference deficit of seven goals. The Reds, on the other hand, are already sure of a place in the Europa League. With only Brighton & Hove Albion on the verge of passing, Liverpool will definitely finish the season in the top six.

In his last home game for Liverpool, Roberto Firmino (89th minute) scored the late equalizer at Anfield. In doing so, the Brazilian at least kept his team’s minimal chance of reaching the premier class after Jacob Ramsey (27th) gave Aston Villa the lead. The guests from Birmingham had previously awarded a penalty. After Ibrahima Konaté fouled Villa’s Ollie Watkins, the fouled shot the penalty kick wide of the target.

Jürgen Klopp had to watch the disappointing draw from the stands. The 55-year-old was banned for two games by the English Football Association after accusing a referee of bias. Klopp can still stand on the touchline in Southampton on the last day of the game. The coach can serve out the second part of the suspension next season.
