German police have managed to get their hands on the main suspect in the knife attack in Solingen, Germany, which left three dead and eight injured and was claimed by the Islamic State. The manhunt lasted just over 24 hours. The man suspected of stabbing several people at a concert organized for the city’s 650th anniversary reportedly surrendered to the police on Saturday evening.

The man confessed

His clothes stained with blood, he reportedly remained hidden in the courtyard of a building, having managed to escape on Friday after his attack, taking advantage of the panic and darkness. It was the regional Minister of the Interior who announced his arrest, specifying that investigators had evidence. No other details for the moment. We do know, however, that a blood-stained knife was found in a trash can earlier in the day.

As for the profile of the suspect, he is a 26-year-old Syrian, who arrived in Germany in December 2022. He was not known to the security services to be a radical Islamist. An attack claimed by the Islamic State in a statement where the terrorist organization claims that the one it presents as one of its soldiers acted to avenge the Muslims of Palestine.
