Knife stabber – internationally wanted perpetrator arrested in Linz

A 33-year-old Iraqi citizen suspected of seriously injuring two people in a stabbing in Hamburg was arrested in Linz on Friday evening. Target investigators from the State Criminal Police Office of Upper Austria caught the internationally wanted suspect after investigations in cooperation with Interpol. The man was taken to Linz Prison, where he is being held in extradition custody.

The district court of Hamburg issued an EU arrest warrant at the end of July 2021. The 33-year-old is said to have attacked and seriously injured two brothers with a pocket knife and a long nail file with a saw function. According to this, the man with the relevant previous convictions is said to have gone into hiding in Austria in order to avoid serving a sentence in Germany. Up to ten years imprisonment awaits him for the crime.
