Knights of the Zodiac: Characters From The Movie Compared To The Original Anime Saint Seiya


The film adaptation of the famous anime Knights of the Zodiac landed in theaters on May 24. For the occasion, we have concocted a small comparison between the main characters of the series and those of the feature film.

The Knights of the Zodiac, a live adaptation of the famous animated series that made Club Dorothée happy, landed in cinemas on May 24.

The plot follows Seiya, a teenager with a strong character. The latter is used to participating in fights to earn enough to survive on the streets, while looking for his sister who has been kidnapped.

During a fight, he unwittingly taps into unsuspected mystical powers and finds himself propelled into a world where he will encounter knights in armor, drawing their power from an ancient magical training and Athena, a reincarnated goddess who needs his protection. If he wants to survive, he will have to face his destiny and sacrifice everything to take his rightful place among the Knights of the Zodiac.

On the occasion of the release of the feature film, we offer you a comparison between the main characters of the anime and those of the live film.

SEIYA

Seiya is the hero and main character of the Knights of the Zodiac. He is the Bronze Knight of Pegasus. His most common combat technique is the Pegasus Meteors. Mackenyu lends him his features in the film adaptation. Seiya is one of the 88 knights (12 Gold Knights, 24 Silver Knights and 48 Bronze Knights) fighting to protect the Goddess Athena. They draw their strength from the Cosmos, an energy comparable to Ki.

SIENNA / ATHENA

Sienna (Saori in the anime) is the reincarnation of the Goddess of Wisdom Athena, a central figure in the history of the Knights of the Zodiac. Since mythological times, Athena has defended peace in the world, returning to Earth to protect humanity from the attacks of the various Gods eager to seize the Earth and subjugate it. She is played by Madison Iseman in the film.

KIDO

Mitsumasa Kido (his name in the anime) is Saori/Sienna’s grandfather. The latter adopted him and took him to Japan after finding Aiolos of Sagittarius dying in the Sanctuary. He is also the president of the Graad Foundation, created for the protection of Athena. In the feature film, Mitsumasa was renamed Alman Kido. He is camped by Sean Bean. He is behind the recruitment and training of Seiya among the Knights of the Zodiac.

NERON / IKKI OF THE PHOENIX

Phoenix Ikki, renamed Nero in the live action adaptation, is one of the 48 Bronze Knights tasked with protecting the Goddess Athena. However, Ikki/Nero possesses an arrogant and tormented personality, torn between good and evil. He has a fierce hatred towards Kido and the Graad foundation. Nero is one of 100 Foundation orphans sent around the world to find armor. He is also considered to be the most powerful of the Bronze Knights thanks to his power of resurrection. In the film, he is portrayed by Diego Tinoco.

MARINE


DR

Marine is a female knight of Athena and mentor to Seiya. She wears a characteristic mask that hides her face, like all those who serve the Goddess. She is dressed in the silver armor of the Eagle. She trained the hero hard to make him a worthy knight. Caitlin Hutson hides under the mask of this character in the feature film.

CASSIOS


DR

Cassios is a formidable adversary that Seiya must face to obtain the Pegasus armor. In the anime, it is a colossus measuring more than 2m50. He is portrayed by Nick Stahl in the live adaptation.
