So pure and yet so beautifully refined – or as Guido says: short and sweet! The cropped sweater goes with everything, especially with narrow dresses and wide pants.

You need:

  • Yarn from Lana Grossa, “Brigitte No. 2” quality (47% alpaca, 45% cotton, 8% new wool, length 140 m/50 g): 450 g (450/500/550), size S, for M/L/XL each in brackets, in raw white No. 16 and quality “Brigitte No. 4” (80% cotton, 20% alpaca, length 110 m/50 g): 500 (500/550/600) g in cream #1. The Wool Pack you can here order.
  • Circular knitting needles 7 and 8 (if you knit loosely) or 8 and 9 (if you knit tightly) – it is important that you get the information in the gauge
  • 1 short circular needle size 7 (if you knit loosely) or 8 (if you knit tightly)

The sweater is always knitted with quadruple threads, 2 threads per quality.

The information for the small size is in front of the brackets, for the larger sizes in the brackets, each separated by slashes:

Size S (M/L/XL)

That’s how it works:

waistband pattern: With a thin needle. Divided by 5th row: *P1, K3, P1, repeat from * all the time. Back: *K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, repeat from * all the time. In rounds: 1st round: *1 st, 3 sts, 1 st, purl, always repeat from *. 2nd round: *P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, repeat from *. Always repeat the two rounds.

Smooth RE: With a thick needle. Back right M, back left M.

Gauge: Stockinette st with quadruple thread: 9.5 sts and 14 rows = 10 × 10 cm.

Accentuated dec (1 st dec in each side): Always work the decreases towards the back. K edge: edge stitch, knit 2 sts in stocking st according to pattern, 1 slip over (slip st K1, knit 1, psso slipped st). Left edge: Work according to pattern except for the last 5 sts, K 2 together, knit 2 sts in stocking st according to pattern, edge stitch.

back part: Cast on 50 (55/55/60) sts with a thin needle and quadruple thread and knit in waistband pattern for 8 cm, increasing 1 (0/4/3) sts on the last row = 51 (55/59/63) sts. Continue knitting in stocking st with a thick needle. For the raglan, cast off 0 (1/2/3) sts on both sides 13 cm from the waistband pattern and then in every 2nd row dec 16 (17/18/19) × 1 st (see explanation above). 23 (25/ 27/29) cm from the beginning of the raglan cast off the remaining 19 sts.

Front part: Knit as the back piece, but cast off the middle 9 sts for the neckline 20 (22/24/26) cm from the beginning of the raglan and finish each side separately. For the neckline curves, decrease 3×1 sts in each row, then cast off the remaining 2 sts. Towards the end of the raglan, move the last decreases outwards.

Sleeve: Cast on 25 (25/27/27) sts each with a thin needle and quadruple thread and knit between 0 (0/2/2) edge sts in waistband pattern for 8 cm. Continue knitting with a thick needle in the following pattern: 10 (10/11/11) sts in stockinette st, increasing 3 (5/6/8) sts distributed, continue 5 sts according to pattern in waistband pattern, 10 (10/11/11 ) M in stockinette st, increasing 3 (5/6/8) sts distributed = 31 (35/39/43) sts. Then inc 5×1 sts every 6 cm on each side for the arm slanting = 41 (45/49/53) sts. For the raglan, cast off 0 (1/2/3) sts on both sides 35 cm from the waistband pattern and then dec 16 (17/18/19) x 1 st on every 2nd row (see explanation above), towards the end of the raglan Move the last dec outwards so that the middle 5 sts continue in waistband pattern. When 23 (25/27/29) cm from beg of raglan cast off the remaining 9 sts.

Elaboration: Sew the raglan seams and pick up 60 sts at the neckline with a thin needle and quadruplicate thread and knit in rounds in the waistband pattern for 5 cm, then bind off all sts. Sew the side and sleeve seams.
