The boy, transferred to the CHR of Lille, suffers “from a fracture of the pelvis and a cranial trauma”, indicated to AFP Philippe Sabatier, deputy prosecutor in Boulogne-sur-Mer.
Driver ‘lost in thought’
A 7-year-old granddaughter who was accompanying them, also on a bicycle, was unharmed but was treated in shock, he added. The victims were mowed down from behind on Thursday afternoon, by a car which was traveling “a priori between 50 and 70 km/h”. The driver was “lost in thought”, pleads “a lack of attention” and “did not realize it until he hit them”. He is 53 years old and was placed in police custody, no “trace of narcotics or alcohol” was detected, underlined the magistrate.
