The late Kobe Bryant is now a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame. His wife Vanessa accepted this honor on behalf.
It’s been over a year since basketball star Kobe Bryant (1978-2020) died in a helicopter crash together with his daughter Gianna (2006-2020) and seven other people. Last Saturday (May 15), the exceptional Los Angeles Lakers athlete was posthumously inducted into the American Basketball Hall of Fame, as reported by “The Hollywood Reporter”, among others. At the emotional ceremony, Bryant’s idol Michael Jordan (58) was the laudator, the acceptance speech was given by widow Vanessa Bryant (39).
On January 26, 2020, Vanessa lost her husband and one of their four children. In February of this year, the plan for the posthumous honor arose, according to Vanessa Bryant: “I had Michael last February [Jordan] asked if he would introduce Kobe tonight and he graciously accepted. Kobe admired you. That means so much to us. “

In his long career, Kobe Bryant has won countless awards and titles – “but his greatest achievement was being the best father to our girls”. Vanessa Bryant ended her emotional acceptance speech with the words: “Dear Kobe, thank you for being the best husband and father you could have been. Thank you for developing yourself and learning from your mistakes. (…) Thank you for never giving up on us. Thank you for our family, thank you for our daughters. “
