Black and white is no longer relevant for Kobo e-readers. The American brand announced this Wednesday the launch of two models equipped with a color E-ink screen: the Libra Color and the Clara Color.
For these two versions, Kobo opted for E-ink panels measuring 1,448 by 1,072 pixels. The announced resolution is 300 ppi in black and white and 150 ppi in color. The opportunity for users to enjoy colorful book covers and highlighters.
For the rest of the technical characteristics, there are some changes compared to previous generations.
The Kobo Libra Color retains the panel with a diagonal of 7 inches, the physical buttons for turning pages, 32 GB storage and the IPX8 waterproofness of the Libra 2. The main addition to note is the support of the Stylus Kobo 2 stylus, designed to take notes and highlight text in the blink of an eye.
As for the Kobo Clara Color, we are entitled to a faster processor and double the storage (16 GB) compared to the Clara 2E.
A new model in the Clara range has also been launched: the Kobo Clara BW. The latter simply offers an updated version of the Clara 2E, incorporating the new chip and quantity of memory than the Kobo Clara Color.
In terms of pricing, the new Kobo e-readers are offered at the following prices: 229.99 euros for the Libra Color, 159.99 euros for the Clara Color and 139.99 euros for the Clara BW.
All three models are available for pre-order, and the release date is scheduled for April 30, 2024.
