Koh-Lanta 2022: “Alexandra lacks perspective” Benjamin looks back on his elimination

During the third episode of Koh-Lanta the cursed totemthe red team had eliminated the handball player Samira, she had told her four truths to the council. A speech that Jean-Philippe describes as unsportsmanlike. At the start of episode 4, just before going to the comfort test, Benjamin admits to being physically, mentally and nervously exhausted.

It is under these conditions that the two teams go to the comfort test that the yellows win hands down. They thus win a hammock and several chairs which improve their camp life. Denis announces to them that they are going to have to send two red candidates to a cursed islet to fulfill a perilous mission. It is Maxime and Jean-Phillipe who are designated by the yellows and the two candidates will succeed in the mission, thus preventing their team from receiving a penalty.

Back to camp tensions are felt among the yellows between pro basketball player Yannick and Colin, which doesn’t please Olga, who doesn’t appreciate Yannick’s sometimes curt remarks. As for the reds, they lose fire just before competing in the immunity test. In the first part of the game the yellows largely dominate but it is finally the reds who win thanks to Louana and Ambre who go up very quickly Alexandra who did not shine in this event. At the end of the council, it is Benjamin who leaves following friction with Alexandra. He returned in detail to his adventure. We tell you everything!

When composing the teams, you are chosen second to last. How did you experience it and how do you explain it?

I was not uncomfortable with the idea of being chosen last because in this collective and sporting adventure, we look at who can bring us sport. Objectively I can understand that when people see me I’m not necessarily the person on whom they put a coin.

You say you would have preferred to be selected last to be with the purples rather than the blues. Why ?

There are several things. First I had a feeling with the violets, in particular with Jean-Charles who is an incredible character with whom I had spoken for 5 minutes and I saw that he was nice. Then I felt that it was not going to match with Alexandra just from the way she expressed herself, if only on the boat. And this a priori was confirmed during the composition of the teams where she shot Céline.

Among the blues there was a good dynamic, you often win and during the second immunity test, you stood out. You give victory to your team. How did you feel about being the main architect of your team’s victory?

That’s what’s crazy about the Blues team. We were surrounded by intelligent people and even if Samira and I had trouble with Alexandra we managed to take it upon ourselves for the good of the team and I think that’s what made us win a lot. We communicated a lot. Regarding the test in question, I was comfortable because it is this kind of test that suits me. There was logic and thinking, all of which I like. I took my responsibilities and I ensured. Winning a totem like that is amazing. Koh-Lanta is not only the physical, there is the cerebral which comes into account.

During the reorganization of the teams you are in yellow, you who are a strategist what do you think of the idea of changing teams at this time?

Honestly I preferred the red team! With the yellows I don’t feel comfortable because there is the strong core of the blues with Colin, Olga and Alexandra and strong tempers which are quite intimidating. But I met extraordinary people like Bastien who is a great adventurer and Setha who was more than a faithful ally in the game, she became a friend. So the yellows in the end weren’t that bad.

You find Alexandra with whom your temperament has not matched since the beginning and it ends up being tense between you at the council. Why is this when it explodes?

For me, the trigger for my annoyance towards Alexandra is clearly the immunity test. Alexandra wanted to be one of the two builders herself and she fell short. She made us lose time when we had a lead and that’s what allowed the reds to come back and then win. When I came back to the camp I had hatred against her. I told her, I accused her and that’s what pissed her off. I made her understand that for me she was to blame for the defeat and that she had to question herself, which she doesn’t often do. Alexandra lacks perspective on herself, it’s a shame. Before, I didn’t blame her for anything even if she was a leader because I was doing the good for the group, but she was guilty at the time. She wanted to take responsibility, she failed and for me she should have left.

During the council you vote for Alexandra which means that you are in perfect equality with Stéphanie and it is you who leave after having drawn the black ball. Were you aware of being in so much danger?

Yes ! I knew that some wanted to eliminate me in relation to my clash with Alexandra of course, but also because of my strategic side. The arguments that Alexandra raised concerning my investment in the camp were not honest because I was one of the most active in the camp with Bastien and Colin. I don’t think I was a drag on the events either, so it was more my strategist aspect that scared the rest of the adventure, especially since I made the mistake of not hiding it… I pay my strategist side.
