The video, published on Friday and which shows inmates and guards confronting each other in various events, has aroused several strong reactions, in particular political ones. “A prison is not a supermarket, we do not come in like that”, launched Julien Dive, LR deputy for Aisne and vice-president of the economic affairs committee, on Europe 1 on Tuesday.
“I would prefer that he play the sincerity”
After the shocking images from Fresnes prison, I immediately ordered an investigation to shed light. The fight against recidivism goes through reintegration but certainly not through karting!

“We need strong justice”
For the vice-president of the Economic Affairs Committee, it is now necessary to “shed light” on the state of French prisons. “There were only 2,000 prisons delivered between 2012 and 2017, it took 10 to 15,000. How do you expect the French not to have a feeling of distrust in relation to justice? A feeling of distrust in relation to to state authority if they feel it is not firm?” he asked.
“We need to have justice that is supported, a prison system that is supported. That means behind, to accompany, to put the means so that our French prisons are up to it”, he concluded.
