Death Stranding is the new franchise from the father of Metal Gear, the first opus of which was released in 2019. Building on its success, a sequel was announced at the Game Awards 2022 via a beautiful trailer. Only then, since then, it’s been radio silence. We only know there will be a 5 star cast. History, meanwhile, remains in the shadows. However, good news, Hideo Kojima has decided to break the silence and tell us a little more about this Death Stranding 2.
Go get some fresh air, it’s Kojima who asks for it
It was during an interview that the legendary creator spoke about his game, but also about the film adaptation which is still in production. First, he clarifies that the script for Death Stranding 2, written before the pandemic, was not entirely changed after the fact. Some parts were actually rewritten, but we didn’t have to start from scratch. Our man also returned to one of the main characteristics of the license: the concept of connections, links between humans. Kojima explains that he would love to see the people around him… get out of their homes more and experience the world.
Joking aside, this is the main theme of Death Stranding and the 2 does not intend to derogate from the rule. However, there will be a little difference. Indeed, the symbolism behind the word “Link” has visibly changed. A question is then posed to us: did we make the right decision by connecting? For now, the answer will have to wait, as the release date has not yet been confirmed. Rumors mention an arrival scheduled for January 2024, but this should be taken with a grain of salt.

And the film in all this? As a reminder, Kojima Productions has partnered with Hammerstone Studios in order to deliver a feature film adapted from Death Stranding. Hideo Kojima re-confirms that this is not an adaptation of the games story. It will offer a new plot, ideal to surprise both neophytes and fans. Unfortunately, whether in terms of story or casting, we still have nothing to put in our mouths.
