Kool Savas immortalizes King of Rap as NFT on NIFTEE

The NFT wave, which is drawing ever larger circles, is slowly but surely sloshing out of the niche into the mainstream pool. This is proven by the NIFTEE marketplace, which is taking token development to new shores with stars like Kool Savas and CRO.

“Rap wants more than SP-12 and S-900 image maintenance, step on the microphone, but I send your homies into the enclosure”. Anyone who was socialized with Deutschrap probably absorbed the lines with their mother’s milk. In times when the Internet was not ubiquitous and tapes had to be exchanged in schoolyards, worried parents confiscated them again and raised the middle finger of German rap in every corner, Kool Savas has laid the foundation for German with tracks like “King of Rap” Battlerap laid. Twenty years later, the Sturm und Drang phase has been overcome, Savas has long since achieved legendary status and the “King of Rap” is immortalized in hip-hop music history. Now the rap icon has set a monument to his track on the blockchain – in the form of an NFT.

It took less than twenty seconds for the original King of Rap text sheet and with it a piece of hip-hop history to go to ashes. Kool Savas himself has a hand, or rather put the lighter on, and let the piece of paper go up in smoke with a notary public. The “physical world” is now poorer by one iconic document. In the digital world, however, it was breathed back into life – as the NFT, which has been on the since yesterday, October 14th NFT marketplace NIFTEE Up for auction for a week with a starting bid of 1,000 euros. In addition to the non-fungible token of the original manuscript, the new owner also receives the ashes of the burned original. Collectibles such as the legendary tape “Hoes, Flows, Moneytoes” by Kool Savas and Taktloss, aka West Berlin Masculine, are also going under the virtual hammer in other auctions.

But it’s not just old hip-hop fans who get their money’s worth at NIFTEE. CRO, too, did not allow itself to take the leap on the blockchain. The first of a total of four auctions ended yesterday, where fans of the “Easy” rapper can get hold of 3D models of various mask templates. In addition, buyers receive: inside a trophy made of glass into which a 3D hologram of the respective mask has been lasered. But it is not just the approach of enclosing “physical” memorabilia with the tokens that sets NIFTEE apart from the NFT platform landscape.

Another unique selling point is the self-image of a boutique in which only NFT handpicked musicians and icons of pop culture are sold. Serve marketplaces like Opensea or Rarible as a general store for everything and everyone, the NIFTEE range consists of digital rarities. We found out why from NIFTEE CEO Carmelo Lo Porto.

No ebay

Exclusivity was part of the NIFTEE concept right from the start: “We clearly don’t see ourselves as Ebay or as a totally overcrowded platform, but rather as a boutique in the NFT area and it was our goal from the start to look at pop culture with a loving eye ”. As a consequence, they want “to have the absolute icons of pop culture on the platform”. NIFTEE has big plans: “We have set ourselves the goal of building up Europe’s auction house for exclusive, hand-curated NFT art,” says Lo Porto.

These are not just empty words: “We would rather have nothing for a while than to offer something that we are not convinced of”. The fact that the token display is empty is likely to be the exception in the future. In any case, there is no shortage of potential artists, on the contrary: “We are currently receiving an incredible number of inquiries,” says Lo Porto.

“We don’t just want to stay in rap”

The genre spectrum should no longer be limited to German rap for a long time. Friends of the harder pace and the performing arts could soon also be able to enjoy the NFT. “For example, we want to do a complete metal collection with Napalm Records to simply represent the range. We also work with comedians and actors ”. Ultimately, the platform should represent the entire “diversity of pop culture”.

In order to increase the incentive for the first CRO-NFT buyers, NIFTEE is also giving away a limited NFT to ten people, the “Pioneer Award”, among all bidders for the first collection. A kind of thank you for the pioneering spirit of the first collectors: inside, says Lo Porto: “All the people we work with are pioneers. That is why we are giving away ten NFTs to all people who bid in the CRO auction.

Driving force of digital change

Although the NFT market has undergone a gigantic metamorphosis this year – just think of the pixel piles of the first NFT collections à la CryptoPunks and -Kitties – the development is still at the beginning. Even the NIFTEE team cannot foresee where the journey is going. “But what we do know: we have opened the door a very small crack to what is possible. And I firmly believe that the people who are bidding for the first collections now really have digital artifacts that will have legendary status in a few years. I’m really looking forward to the performance ”.

Lo Porto is convinced that NFT will become an integral part of internet culture, especially in virtual worlds: “I think this is becoming more and more the standard. Last year we saw the development towards the Metaverse, which was accelerated by the lockdown ”. NFT not only serve the purpose of decorative elements. For Lo Porto, the growth of the NFT market is closely linked to that of the metaverse. “The NFT market makes it possible for the first time to really own these things in real life, secured via the blockchain”. So there is no need to worry about the future of tokens: “The question is not whether this will prevail in Germany, but the question is actually how it will develop and what technical possibilities will be used”.
