KORIAN TARGETED BY COMPLAINTS FROM FAMILIES OF RESIDENTS, THE TITLE FALLS

(Reuters) – The manager of nursing homes (Ehpad) Korian unscrewed Wednesday at the Paris Stock Exchange after the newspaper Le Parisien reported on Tuesday evening that 30 complaints were filed by families of residents against the group.

The Korian title yields 5.6% at 7:44 GMT and has lost nearly 36% since the start of the year.

According to Le Parisien, the families accuse the group of endangering the lives of others and manslaughter.

Korian said in a statement on Tuesday that the group was unaware of the content of the complaints and could not comment as it stands.

“All serious situations brought to our attention are handled and systematically reported to the authorities,” the group added.

The retirement home sector in France has been in the crosshairs of the authorities since the beginning of the year, after the publication in January of the investigative book “Les Fossoyeurs”, in which its author, the journalist Victor Castanet, denounces the negligence of ‘Orpea and the mistreatment of elderly people in some of its establishments.
