KRAFTON’s hyper-realistic virtual human being comes to life with Unreal Engine 5


Last December, we already had a glimpse of the power of Unreal Engine 5 when The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience was releasedfeaturing Keanu Reeves but also many other characters from the Matrix saga modeled almost identically on Unreal Engine, and the result was breathtaking. Henceforth, it is KRAFTON’s turn to present its hyperrealistic virtual human model. Special work has been done by the studios on thethe emotions and expressions of their virtual human being, for a rendering almost identical to reality.

To realize this virtual human being, KRAFTON has put the means. Were taken into account in its realization motion capture, but also special effects allowing pupil movements, the creation of many facial expressions of all kinds but also very detailed hair textures. According to CH Kim, CEO of KRAFTON, the company would use this technology in the future for its various projects, particularly within their games, for esports but also for virtual influencers/animators.

A point that is particularly close to the heart of the PUBG studio is the realism of this virtual human being. The company intends to work in the future the improvement of many technologies, such as artificial intelligence, speech synthesis, speech-to-text and voice-to-face in order to increase their character even more, making it capable of having realistic interactions.

Recently, this hyperrealism technology has also been used to make a cinematic on the occasion of the passage in free-to-play of PUBG. It was very well received by the fans, who congratulated KRAFTON for its use of state-of-the-art graphics technology.

Going forward, KRAFTON is relying on this technology to create virtual content, as they did for the recent PUBG Esports 2022 trailer. The intention here is to blur the line between the virtual world and the real worldwhich Unreal Engine 5 allows with its impressive details, thus allowing the production of unique experiences for the players.
