Again: Sony Pictures is postponing “Kraven the Hunter” again. The “Spider-Man” spin-off doesn’t start until December 2024.

Fans of Sony’s “Spider-Man” universe will have to wait even longer for “Kraven the Hunter.” According to media reports, Sony has postponed the release of the latest film about Spider-Man’s rival to December 13, 2024. There was last talk of a cinema release on August 30, 2024. Sony did not give reasons for the date change.

The latest postponement isn’t the first for “Kraven the Hunter.” Sony originally wanted to bring the big game hunter to cinemas on January 13, 2023. But in September 2022, the production company canceled the planned date without giving any reasons. October 6, 2023 was then set. The strike by actors and writers ultimately got in the way of this date. The new cinema release was August 30, 2024, which will now also not be adhered to.

The film about the origin story of the Russian “Spider-Man” villain has been postponed for another few months. Bond candidate Aaron Taylor-Johnson (33) plays the hunter with superhuman strength. Russell Crowe (60) plays his father. Oscar winner Ariana DeBose (33, “West Side Story”) is also there.

The new “Karate Kid” also has to go

In addition to “Kraven the Hunter,” a new “Karate Kid” is also affected by the postponement. In the latest entry in the martial arts franchise, Ralph Macchio (62), star of the original films, will meet Jackie Chan (70). He played the mentor in the 2010 remake. Sony launched a casting call at the end of 2023 to find a new Karate Kid. Ben Wang (24) prevailed.

“Karate Kid” wasn’t supposed to premiere until June, but was then pushed back to December 13, 2024. So onto the slot that “Kraven the Hunter” is now taking over. Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan will not meet until May 30, 2025.
