Tymoshenko: “Zaporizhia nuclear plant threatens every country in Europe”

The situation around the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant is currently exacerbating the situation in Ukraine considerably. According to ex-Prime Minister Tymoshenko, an accident would have unimaginable proportions. Nevertheless, she is certain of victory, not least because of the great support from all over the world. Germany particularly praises her.

With a view to the shelling of the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko says in an exclusive RTL/ntv interview: “If the entire civilized world doesn’t take care of protecting Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, then there could be a catastrophe that can’t be stopped.” It is an acute threat and an instrument on the part of Russia. The nuclear power plant is “ten times that of Chernobyl, and if we don’t stop it now, it could pose a threat to every single country in Europe.”

When asked if Tymoshenko believed in Ukraine’s victory over Russia, she said: “I don’t just believe in it, I absolutely believe in it.” On the one hand, the country has the truth on its side, on the other hand, the Ukrainian people are more united than ever and are determined to defend their homeland. And thirdly, according to Tymoshenko, the free world stands behind Ukraine and is ready to defend peace on the European continent. “This unity gives us absolute belief in our victory.”

On the other hand, she rejects peace negotiations with Russia: “What Russia is proposing is not a peace treaty, it is a capitulation. And that would also leave open the risk of another or renewed war on the entire European continent.” The Kremlin expects Ukraine to renounce the territories conquered by Russia, Ukraine’s renunciation of NATO membership and cuts in the army. Basically, Russia is demanding that Ukraine go completely gun-free, Tymoshenko said. The country no longer has a defensible army. “This is not an offer of peace.” This is just preparation for another war, says Tymoshenko.

The Ukrainian politician also finds words of thanks for Germany, which is helping with weapons, money and taking in refugees as well as with sanctions against Russia: “I would like to say a big thank you for supporting Ukraine at such a difficult hour!”
