Kristen Stewart will soon be in front of the camera as Princess Diana. The actress does everything to live up to her role.
It is a demanding task that Kristen Stewart (30, "Charlie's Angels") will face early next year. In the film "Spencer" she transforms into Princess Diana (1961-1997) and thus takes on a true icon. In an interview with "Bild am Sonntag" she now talks about how she is preparing for the challenging role and why the Princess of Wales was loved by everyone.
"It's the most exciting role of my life so far," Stewart told the Sunday newspaper about her next film project. The actress wanted to "please" the mother of Prince William (38) and Harry (36), who died in Paris in 1997, and therefore read everything she can find about Lady Di. She also "listens to her voice every night before bed". "I don't want to screw it up," said Stewart.

The popularity of the "Princess of Hearts", who was married to Prince Charles (72) from 1981 to 1996, is explained by the "Twilight" actress with her closeness to the people. Exactly that, however, arose out of a certain need, according to Stewart, the people were Diana's "way out of solitude". "She was a woman who seemed so isolated from other people," she explains. "To escape her isolation, she tried to make contact with others."
Although the 30-year-old has no direct comparison with Princess Diana, she and the British icon seem to have one thing in common. Both go their own way, regardless of what is expected of them. Stewart showed this quality when she confessed to love women a few years ago. "I just fell in love with a girl without announcing it beforehand," she says. It "just happened. And that was a nice feeling."
"Spencer" is about Princess Diana's search for a way out
For "Spencer", Kristen Stewart will work with "Jackie" director Pablo Larraín (44). The Chilean filmmaker wants to focus on one of the last Christmas celebrations of the princess among the royals. The action takes place on three days in the early 1990s on the royal estate in Sandringham, Norfolk. At this point Diana had increasing doubts about her marriage and was looking for a way out not to end up as the (unhappy) Queen of England. Filming is scheduled to start at the beginning of the new year.
