“Krone” interview – Marc Pircher: “I was able to rearrange many things”

The popular Zillertal folk music star Marc Pircher is celebrating his 30th stage anniversary this year. In an interview, he talks to the “Krone” about his future, wedding plans and his anniversary.

“Krone”: You are celebrating your 30th stage anniversary this year. Can you still remember your first appearance as a 14-year-old boy? Marc Pircher: Yes, of course. That was on May 5th, 1992. I appeared in Munich on the TV show “Heimatmelodie”. Now, 30 years later, I will be celebrating my anniversary in Switzerland in May. Have you ever felt tired from the stage? No, I still love being on stage. However, what has changed as a result of the corona pandemic is my inner attitude towards the performances. I used to have a very tight program with over 200 performances a year. As a result, family life, friends and hobbies were neglected. Due to the forced break, I was able to rearrange a lot and am now trying to spend a lot more time with my loved ones. And in terms of hobbies, I started playing golf. That’s good for me. In the meantime, I even plan my vacations according to the available golf courses (laughs). You live with your partner Martina and their one-year-old son Luis in the canton of Zug in Switzerland. Do you miss your home country of Tyrol from time to time? I moved to Switzerland because of love and I feel very comfortable at Lake Zug. The landscape is also very similar to that in Tyrol. Around me it is like the one at Lake Achensee. Will the wedding bells ring this year? They will certainly ring at some point. When the time comes, we won’t hide it, but we won’t make a TV show out of it either. What else is on the program in the anniversary year?In March I’ll be appearing in the Austria House at the Expo in Dubai. In June, my 60-minute TV special “30 Years Marc Pircher” will be broadcast on ORF2. In September I will be giving an anniversary concert with my band and string instruments in Wattens and making music at the Kraftalm in Itter. And in April my anniversary CD “30 years – typically Marc Pircher” will be released. It contains eight new titles and ten of my most successful songs in a new edition – as duets.
