“Krone” series – quality of life as a valuable asset

In the small Flachgau municipality of Dorfbeuern, the satisfaction of the citizens is very high. In order for this to remain so in the future, the brakes are put on the brakes.

The Flachgau municipality of Dorfbeuern has just 1,600 inhabitants. Strolling through the town, you quickly notice that the people seem content. But this is not only due to the divine blessing that hovers over the community – the famous Benedictine Abbey of Michaelbeuern has been here since the eighth century. Because everything that a place needs can be found here. From kindergarten to elementary school, middle school to large local suppliers and taverns – everything is available. “We are also proud of that,” said Mayor Adi Hinterhauser (ÖVP). There is also a tobacconist in a small, detached building in the middle of the village square. Speaking of which: the square is to become a “climate-friendly village square” in the coming years. “With drainage-capable paving and several e-charging stations.” The latter are to be built primarily for the many cyclists who find their way to northern Flachgau on the weekends. The community has grown steadily but slowly over the past few decades. If the local chief has his way, it should stay that way. A new building land model with 13 parcels will still be developed in the next two years. “Fortunately, the community was able to secure a hectare of land,” says Hinterhauser. For him, the quality of life in Dorfbeuern plays a central role. The club life is active and the team spirit is strong. That should definitely be preserved. But the Ukraine crisis is also having an impact on the small community. Ten to twelve refugees are currently in the community. Hinterhauser also privately took in a family with grandmother, mother and daughter.
