And “One into life” is probably the motto even after the long period of the pandemic. “The young people have become hungry for performance. This year we had almost twice as many registrations as usual,” says group leader Michael Sablatnig. 65 musicians (12 bands) with drums, e-guitar, saxophone and the like drew attention in the jazz, popular music, singer and songwriter categories. The topic “How sounded peace?” was given. Pieces were arranged and composed for this. The commitment of the band “Red Baron” – one of the strong formations from the Lavanttal – was also rewarded, which, like all bands, caused a storm of enthusiasm in the Alban Berg Hall. The top-class jury rated their performance with “Gold”. They were impressed by the composition “Exit Unknown”. The piece was written by guitarist Levi Kočnik: “This is what peace sounds like, calm and balanced.” The Red Barons represent Carinthia, as do five other bands at the national competition, which will take place in Vienna in October. Flora Fellner (16), the only singer and songwriter, now state winner, has brought along three of her own compositions: “What kind of world is it that we live in, there’s nothing here but rain. No one outside, everyone inside and everyone argues pointlessly. . . ”
