Sandhausen gets air in the relegation battle

Whistles come from the ranks, the opponent works precisely: After the compulsory Corona break, Karlsruher SC has to admit defeat to SV Sandhausen. The sports club initially has more game shares in the southwest duel. But opportunities are scarce.

Karlsruher SC suffered a setback in the fight to stay up in the 2nd Bundesliga. Due to the 0:2 (0:1) in the catch-up game of the 20th matchday against SV Sandhausen, the lead over the relegation place is still six points, but only three over Sandhausen. Coach Alois Schwarz’s team climbed to 15th place with 23 points and relegated Fortuna Düsseldorf to the rank of relegation.

Pascal Testroet (45+2) and six minutes from time Jerome Gondorf scored an own goal for SVS, who clinched their second win in a row. The southwest duel had been postponed due to numerous corona cases at KSC. The KSC had the greater share of the game, but chances were scarce. And even in the early stages, the guests presented themselves with self-confidence. At first there was no getting past KSC goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck. Testroet failed twice (15th/19th).

The hosts, where Werder Bremen’s loanee Benjamin Goller made his debut, waited and see. In the first home game after the compulsory Corona break, Marc Lorenz set the first accent. He failed on the crossbar. On the other side, Testroet did better and sank a powerful header.

The lead gave Sandhausen a boost. The 6532 spectators, on the other hand, became restless. The whistles didn’t help your team. The best opportunity to equalize was missed by Daniel Gordon, who also failed on the crossbar (73′). The game was decided with Gondorf’s unsuccessful attempt to clear into his own goal.
