Kung Fu Panda 4: casting, release date, information… Everything you need to know about Po’s big return to the cinema!

15 years after the first part, Kung Fu Panda is back in theaters! Po will come back to thrill us on March 27. Everything you need to know about the feature film.

8 years after his last cinematographic adventure and after 3 feature films having grossed a total of 1.8 billion at the international box office, the panda Po is back for a fourth film.

Appearing for the first time on screen in 2008, the lazy panda from DreamWorks studios quickly won the hearts of millions of spectators. The film by Mark Osborne and John Stevenson presented us with Po, a passionate, strong and clumsy panda, a kung fu fan who will quickly have to become the Great Dragon Warrior in order to defeat Taï Lung, a deceitful snow leopard.

Given the success, 2 sequels were quickly released. And while we thought Po’s story was over, DreamWorks announced the start of a fourth opus, 8 years after Kung Fu Panda 3 in which Po found his father and discovered his origins.

What will Kung Fu Panda 4 be about?

Directed by Mike Mitchell, already at work on Shrek 4, Once Upon an End, Trolls and The Lego Movie 2, Kung Fu Panda 4 takes place after the events of the third film. Questioned by us during the launch of the trailer, the director told us that there is no “no concept of time in this film. Po has simply grown and evolved. Despite everything, he remains this big child that we adore.”

After fighting the most formidable masters of evil, destiny will once again knock on Po’s door to invite him to finally rest. The Panda is named spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace. This poses some obvious problems. First, Po is adept at spiritual leadership as well as dieting, and second, he must quickly find and train a new dragon warrior before he can enjoy the benefits of his prestigious promotion.

At the same time, Chameleone, a witch as evil-intentioned as she is powerful, appears. This tiny lizard can shapeshift into any creature and is eyeing Po’s staff of wisdom, with which she hopes to be able to summon back from the spirit realm all the evil masters our dragon warrior has defeated. Po will find help from Zhen, a corsac vixen, a thief as cunning as she is quick-witted, who has the gift of irritating Po but whose skills will prove precious…

An adventure full of surprises in which Po will find all the villains from the previous opuses! Mike Mitchell explains: “In this film, it’s the first time that Po has to face a villain. She has supernatural powers that other villains didn’t have. She’s a creature who can change her appearance as she wants, that’s it. is a shapeshifter. This way we will be able to bring back all the villains from the other films.”

Thanks to the Chameleone, the villains from the previous opuses will all return and Po will have to face them again.

When will Kung Fu Panda 4 be released?

After two feature films released in 2023: the original film Ruby, the Kraken Teenager, released on June 28 in France, and the third opus of the Trolls saga, released on October 18, DreamWorks studios will return to cinemas in 2024 with two feature films. An original film and a sequel.
