The Berlin native, a trained police officer, moved there in the 1970s and opened an insurance agency. In 1983, Wiebach took over as coach at SAK and saved the Nonntalers from relegation in the last game of the season. At the end of the following season there was already great rejoicing when the townspeople celebrated promotion to the top division in front of 3,000 enthusiastic spectators. Dispute led to a break.
