Kurt Zouma’s brother suspended by his club after the video of the beaten cat was released

Kurt Zouma’s brother Yoan has been suspended by his club after a video emerged showing the French international hitting his cat.

English 5th Division club Dagenham and Redbridge FC announced on Thursday that they are suspending Kurt Zouma’s brother Yoan pending an investigation into the video of the France international hitting his cat.

“The club have decided that until the RSCPA (UK’s SPA) complete their investigation, Yoan will not play any official matches for Dagenham and Redbridge,” the club wrote of the 23-year-old defender, who admitted filmed the scene.

Yoan “fully cooperates” with the investigation, assured the club which adds that it reserves the right to take “any other action deemed necessary (…) at the conclusion of the investigation”.

This attitude contrasts with that of West Ham who had Kurt Zouma play Tuesday evening against Watford, a few hours after the revelation of the video.

This feeling of impunity of the player had caused a new outbreak of indignation on Wednesday, despite the fine of 300,000 euros then imposed by the club on his player, the heaviest possible.

The sports equipment manufacturer Adidas had thus broken the contract binding it to the player, several sponsors of the club had distanced themselves and calls for Zouma never to play again with the Blues had been addressed to the French Football Federation.
