Kye, the little donkey who thought he was a dog

In England, a colt rejected by its mother has adopted a very unusual way of life.

Everything had started very badly for Kye. From birth, he was rejected by his mother who refused to take care of and breastfeed him. He would have been doomed to certain death if John Nuttall, a 64-year-old English farmer whose family raises trekking donkeys, had not taken him under his wing. Together with her partner Gražina Pervenis, the couple pampered the little donkey, feeding it with a bottle and letting it wander as it pleased in their meadow and their house.

This affectionate and liberal upbringing bore unexpected fruits: “Kye now thinks he’s a dog” says John Nuttall with a smile. No doubt taking a model from the dog of the household, who has become his best friend, the colt, now 3 months old, runs up when you whistle, loves to play ball, takes his ease on the sofa and s ‘tries to follow his master wherever he goes. Last I heard, Kye hasn’t learned how to bark yet, but it’s not impossible that his inseparable canine playmate is giving him some foreign language lessons.

Will this unusual behavior continue or will the colt end up adopting the way of life of its congeners? John Nuttall prefers the second hypothesis because Kye may be adorable, he is also a little bulky … And he is not sure that his favorite sofa is able to withstand long naps of an adult donkey weighing 300 kilos.
