Before becoming a pop icon, Kylie Minogue started her career on Australian television. Like her younger sister Danii Minogue, the singer held several small roles in soaps before being revealed to the general public by joining the soap opera Neighbors (Les Voisins en VF) in 1986, in which viewers follow the daily inhabitants of a street in the fictional town of Erinsborough.

Launched in 1985, Neighbors is now the longest running soap on Australian television. But all good things must come to an end: following the decision of the British broadcaster Channel 5 to stop contributing to the financing of the series, the Australian channel Eleven, which has been broadcasting the program since 2011, decided to stop the series, which will end on August 1, 2022.

For the occasion, Kylie Minogue hinted that she would return to the final episode of the soap opera alongside actor Jason Donovan, who played her on-screen husband (and also later became a musician), reveals the website Deadline. The romance between their two characters had contributed a lot to the popularity of the program.

A real talent revealer, the soap filmed in Melbourne has launched the careers of many Hollywood stars. Russell Crowe, Margot Robbie, Liam Hemsworth and Guy Pearce notably appeared in Les Voisins, which will end after thirty-seven years on the air and twenty-three seasons. According to Deadline, the latter would also have been approached by the production to make his reotur during the finale.
