La Banque Postale is committed to social and environmental issues

La Banque Postale announced on Tuesday that it was becoming a mission company, a system provided for in the Pacte law of 2019 and which commits it on a social and environmental level, in the wake of its parent company La Poste last June.

This new mode of governance is an important step for the company, greeted AFP the chairman of the executive board Philippe Heim on the sidelines of the publication of the bank’s annual results, marked by an increase in activity in 2021 and for the most part revealed during the publication of those of La Poste last Thursday. It is also the logical translation of what La Banque Postale is, according to him, referring to the development and future promotion of products and services that meet these challenges.

The bank had already adopted a raison d’être last June, centered on the concept of just transition. The status of mission company, provided for by the Growth Pact law promulgated in May 2019, enjoins a commercial company to pursue extra-financial objectives to which it devotes resources and monitoring.

A monitoring committee chaired by Natacha Valla

A mission committee, responsible for monitoring the smooth running of the actions implemented by the company, will therefore be set up. Composed of 17 members, it will be chaired by Natacha Valla, economist and dean of the School of Management and Innovation at Sciences Po Paris. It is urgent to support the transformation of the banking model, and more broadly of the economy, towards new business models, more involved, more responsible and more in tune with the challenges of our time, she explains, quoted in a press release.
