La Banque Postale launches Django, its fintech dedicated to split payments

Paying for your online purchases later, or in instalments, is now possible with Django, the new credit solution from La Banque Postale Consumer Finance for e-retailers.

The split payment market, also called Buy now, Pay later, is booming. He barely weighed 6 billion euros in 2019, but should rise more than 25 billion by 2025, according to Cabinet Xerfi.

The concept? You leave with your purchases, but you only pay a fraction of their price at checkout. The rest you will pay later. The solution appeals to consumers, who can thus spread out their expenses in the hard way to optimize the management of their budget, but also the merchants, whose average basket increases.

It was enough to arouse the interest of the banks. After the takeover of Floa Bank by BNP Paribas, and Oney by the BPCE group (Banque Populaire Caisse d’Epargne), it is now La Banque Postale’s turn to join the mix with the launch of Django, its new fractional payment for e-merchants.

With Django, La Banque Postale offers split payment in 2, 3 or 4 timesand deferred payment, a kind of mini-credit that allows you to postpone your payment from 15, 30 or 45 days. Accessible up to 6000 euros of purchases, these new payment solutions Plug and Play integrate directly into the purchasing process of e-commerce sites.

The young shoot announces an acceptance rate of 95% folders, similar to what its competitors offer. For this, Django can count on the expertise of its parent company, La Banque Postale Consumer Finance, which manages the consumer credit activity of the La Poste group.

Strategic diversification

Django is a strategic launch for the yellow and blue bank, which thus wishes to accelerate its diversification on the consumer credit market, explains Philippe Heim, chairman of the management board of La Banque Postale. To break into this ultra-competitive sector, the fintech intends to capitalize on the solid links forged by the La Poste group with many e-merchants through its logistics solutions or his montic solutions and financing.

In order to support its customers in the management of their budget, Django announces a partnership with the association of fight against over-indebtedness CROESUS. Fintech customers will also be able to log into the app Budget High Speed, which helps them calculate their remaining living. A partnership is also being built with the application Carbonwhich should soon allow consumers to measure the carbon impact of their purchasesannounces Django.
