Like every week, Francois Busnel is back, this Wednesday, April 13 at 9 p.m. on France 5, to present a new issue of The Great Library. The literary journalist usually offers viewers a meeting between two writers whose books help us to think about the current world. But this week, the presenter will only receive one guest, but not just anyone: Edgar Morin.
The famous French sociologist and philosopher has celebrated its 100th birthday on July 8. Born in France into a Jewish family in Salonica, he joined the Resistance and against fascism at a very young age, and established himself as one of the most influential thinkers in the 1960s.
In his book Lessons from a century of life, released last year, Edgar Morin wanted to learn from his experience of human complexity. François Busnel will thus come back with the author on a century of history and reflection, but will also collect his confidences and his view of today’s world.
But the author will also present his latest book, entitled let’s wake up, published by Denoël on March 2. ““We don’t know what is happening to us and that is precisely what is happening to us,” writes José Ortega y Gasset. What happens to us? What’s happening to France? In the world ? La Grande bookstore: what audience for the latest issue?
On Wednesday April 13, François Busnel presented a new issue of The Great Library in which he received Leïla Slimani and Delphine Horvilleur. That night, 364,000 viewers have chosen to watch France 5 and the reference literary programme. A rather low score for the Grande Librairie which records an average of 50,000 more viewers.
