The association La Guillotière intends to file a complaint against the Metropolis and the City of Lyon because of waste which has been accumulating in the streets and on the sidewalks of La Guillotière for several days, in the 7th arrondissement.
Several days that rubbish of all kinds and household waste lie on a large part of the sidewalks of this Guillotière district, in the 7th arrondissement of Lyon, the inhabitants can no longer take it. The association “La Guillotière en Colère”, very concerned with the life of the district, has been denouncing these illegal deposits for several weeks. Alerts were made via the ToodeGo platform (which indicates the location of illegal dumps to the Metropolis which then takes care of evacuating them) but, seeing no change, the association announced on Twitter this Monday, May 9 its intention to lodge a complaint against the City and the Metropolis for insalubrity.
Nathalie Balmat, president of the association, indicates that “the mayor of Lyon does not assert his police right concerning insalubrity. The Metropolis does not do the job for the piles of garbage next to the composters, which remain there for days. At some point, that’s enough.”
Result of a WE at the #guillotière where the @grandlyon let cubic meters of rubbish accumulate for days and a mayor responsible for sanitation who still does not apply his police power!

The complaint was filed Monday, May 9 in the afternoon. “If it makes things happen and we don’t have to live in piles of garbage anymore, there’s no problem, we’ll go to court. Just because we’re just a neighborhood association doesn’t mean we’re going to get walked on. If that’s the only thing to make things happen, I’ll spend my life at the police station. It’s unfortunate, but the streets must be clean,” she concludes.
This is the first time that the association has appealed to justice.
