Labor of Love: That's why the new reality show is an excitement

Dating shows are usually only about one thing. In the USA, the Fox network has now launched a program that makes absolutely no secret of it. The principle of "Labor of Love" is simple: As with the "Bachelorette", a woman has to deal with 15 handsome men. However, she is not only looking for great love, but also for a father for a future baby. "Fox levels up dating to mating" (in German: "Fox turns dating into mating"), it is aptly said in the description of a preview of the reality show.

In search of a mating partner, Kristy Katzmann, the 41-year-old candidate, is accompanied by actress Kristin Davis (55, Charlotte), who is known from "Sex and the City". According to the description, the career woman has everything, "only not what she wants most". Like many other women in the United States, she wanted to have a child and start her own small family, but so far has not had the right man at her side. "Kristy is brought together with 15 sexy, cultured and like-minded men who are ready to show their fatherly side."

Sperm, bears and another dating show

Every week, the fathers who may soon be faced with new tasks to test their suitability. If they do well, they will go one round. After eight weeks full of dates and challenges, Katzmann should then decide whether she has found the right person or whether she would rather continue to look for a partner with whom to start a family.

In the first episode, according to a report by the "Los Angeles Times", things get rough. The male candidates should give a sperm sample – of course, it is compared who is the most fertile. Later, among other things, the attack of a bear is simulated during a camping trip, to test whether the protective instinct of the men is awakened.

Katzmann has experience with reality TV: In her twenties she participated as a candidate for the "Bachelor". Now she says: "I think a lot of women are in the same situation as me. (…) So what might seem strange at the beginning is actually a story that you can totally identify with. And there is so much heart in it and soul on the show. "
