lack of parity, Neve Campbell declines

Denouncing a treatment inferior to that of a male actor and what she brought to the franchise, Neve Campbell refuses to return for Scream 6. A choice which could however evolve for the next film.

Neve Campbell, the iconic actress of Wes Craven’s slashers, will be absent from Scream 6. A difficult decision for her, but she did not see herself accepting without the assurance of equal pay.

Scream 6 will be without Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell)

In an interview for People, Neve Campbell justified her choice not to appear in Scream 6 as Sidney Prescott. She categorically refused because she does not feel valued at her fair value, and above all, denounces unequal pay between men and women.

I didn’t feel like what I was being offered matched the value I bring to this franchise, and has for 25 years. As a woman in this profession, I think it’s very important to be recognized and to fight for it. I honestly don’t believe that if I had been a man and had been in five movies of a massive franchise over 25 years that the salary would have been the same as what I was offered. I couldn’t go on set knowing that – feeling undervalued, feeling unfair and unfair.

A problem already raised last June by the actress. An opportunity for her to thank her fans.

Moving on was a very difficult decision. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You have always been an incredible support to me.. I will be forever grateful to you, and grateful for what the franchise has given me over the past 25 years..

On the other hand, Courtney Cox (Gale Weathers) and Hayden Panettiere (Kirby Reed, Scream 4) have signed on to be in the feature film.

A return in Scream 7? Nothing is ruled out

A goodbye more than a farewell? Maybe. If the proposal is good, and therefore fair, then Neve Campbell could be in the cast of Scream 7.

I’m not done with this story. I like these movies. If someone comes to see me with a sum that I consider worth… what I’m worth, I might consider coming back. I like new directors. They did a very good job on the last movie and I wish them good luck for the next one.
