Focus. This August 31, 2022 will mark the 25th anniversary of the death of Lady Diana, who was killed in a car accident at the Pont de l’Alma, in Paris, at the end of August 1997. For the occasion, M6 is broadcasting this August 23 a special issue of Forbidden Zone entitled “Diana confidential” which reveals secret recordings of the princess, broadcast for the first time in France… Before her terrible accident, the princess had managed to free herself a little from the constraints of the palace, in particular thanks to her divorce. I have to say that her relationship with Prince Charles had been on the rocks for several years and that time was bound to come. Before that, however, Diana and her husband Prince Charles had many discussions, even arguments, about the cause of their separation: the love that Prince Charles had – and still has today – for Camilla Parker-Bowles .
One evening of celebration, when a party was organized for Camilla’s sister’s birthday, Diana has decided to settle accounts. Diana’s decision to come to the party took Prince Charles by surprise, the latter not expecting his wife to accompany him into hostile territory. Indeed all the people present were friends of Camilla, and were therefore going to take her side. Yet as she explains in the secret recordings, Lady Diana took her courage in both hands and made a point of being on her husband’s arm during this particular event. She had a very specific goal in mind: to talk to Camilla about her relationship with her own husband.
Lady Diana: “I want my husband, is that clear?”
“I got motivated, fired up. I looked her in the eye and said, ‘Camilla, I’d like to talk to you, if that’s okay’. I said, ‘Camilla, I know everything that’s going on between you and Charles, be well aware of that. And she was like, ‘Oh it’s okay, it’s not a melodrama, you’ve got all the men at your feet, two lovely little boys, what more do you need?'”. A question that Princess Diana hastened to answer firmly: “I want my husband, is that clear?”. A tense confrontation, which was however liberating for the Princess of Wales who explained that when she left the evening, she “cried like never before [elle] never cried in his life”. But the important point is that “It was tears of anger. Seven years of anger. But the next morning I felt a massive shift had taken place within me.”
