Sudden death in the British royal family: It is now officially clear why Lady Gabriella’s husband Thomas Kingston died.
The cause of death of Thomas Kingston (1978 – 2024), the husband of Lady Gabriella Kingston, 42, has been determined. As the Daily Mail reported on Friday (March 1), the 45-year-old died of a “traumatic head wound.” A weapon was also found near his body in the outbuilding of his parents’ house in the Cotswolds. The court in Gloucestershire announced this after the autopsy.
Kingston was found dead at his family’s country estate on Sunday evening. The chief medical examiner said his father found him after forcing his way into the locked building, according to reports. Thomas Kingston had previously had lunch with his parents.
After finding the lifeless body, a member of the family called the emergency number, whereupon police and paramedics arrived. According to the police, there is nothing to indicate a violent crime.

“His death is a big shock for the whole family”
Thomas Kingston’s relatives and his wife Lady Gabriella Kingston released a statement about his death on Tuesday (February 27). It said: “It is with deepest sadness that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother. Tom was an extraordinary man who brightened the lives of everyone who knew him. His death comes as a great shock to the whole family.”
King Charles III, 75, and his wife, Queen Camilla, 76, expressed their condolences in an official statement from the palace. “The King and Queen have been informed of Thomas’ death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all who knew him in mourning the loss of a much loved family member. In particular, Their Majesties send their heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and the entire family Kingston,” said a statement from a Buckingham Palace spokeswoman.
Thomas Kingston, who worked as a banker, married the then Lady Gabriella Windsor in May 2019 in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Lady Gabriella Windsor is the daughter of Prince Michael of Kent, 81, himself a first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022).
