Lady Gaga
She struggled with “mental health problems” from filming “House of Gucci”
Lady Gaga doesn’t do things by halves. She prepared so intensively for her role in “House of Gucci” that she had to struggle with mental health problems at the end of the shooting.
“House of Gucci”, a film with a star cast, will hit German cinemas on November 24, 2021. At the side of Adam Driver, 37, Jared Leto, 49, Al Pacino, 81, and Jeremy Irons, 73, can be seen Lady Gaga, 35, in the role of Patrizia Reggiani. In the film adaptation of true events by star director Ridley Scott, Gaga plays the wife of the Gucci heir Maurizio Gucci, who puts a hit man on him after their separation.
Lady Gaga lived as Patrizia Reggiani
In order to prepare for her role as the resolute Italian, Lady Gaga immersed herself deeply in the matter, lived and even spoke as Patrizia Reggiani, as she now explains in an interview with the British “Vogue”, whose December issue she graces. “I had some psychological problems at the end of the shoot,” said the actress and singer. “I was either in my hotel room, where I lived and spoke as Reggiani, or I was on the set, where I lived and spoke as her.”
The result of this type of “method acting” was panic attacks and the loss of touch with reality. “I remember going out one day in Italy with a hat to go for a walk. I hadn’t gone for a walk in two months and I panicked,” admits the 35-year-old. “I thought I was on a movie set.”
Three years of preparation for “House of Gucci”
She spent three years preparing for the role. “I want to be open and honest: I have a year and a half as her [Reggiani] lived. And I spoke with an accent for nine months, “said the American, who can be heard in the film with an Italian accent.” I never stopped outside of the cameras, either. I stayed with her. It was next to impossible for me to speak the accent as a blonde. ”So she began to dye her hair dark.

The film shows the Gucci couple’s marriage from the beginning until Maurizio’s death in 1995. Patrizia Reggiani is now 72 years old. In 2016, she was released after 18 years in prison. To this day she is of the opinion that she was falsely convicted. “I’m not guilty, but I’m not innocent. All the things that happened were a misunderstanding,” she said in the 2018 special “People Magazine Investigates: Crimes of Fashion”.
