Although Lady Louise Windsor has avoided the limelight for most of her life, the Queen’s granddaughter could now occupy an important position in the royal family.

In June 2022, Lady Louise Windsor, 18, graduated from high school. Since September she has been attending the renowned St. Andrews University north of Edinburgh, Scotland, like her cousin Prince William and his current wife Catherine, Princess of Wales, both 40. During the summer the daughter of Prince Edward, 58, and Countess Sophie von Wessex, 57, has been working in a garden centre.

Many royal fans appreciate this down-to-earthness of Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter, † 96. But she could soon play a more central role in the British royal family, according to a royal expert.

Is the Royal Family now counting on Lady Louise Windsor?

King Charles, 73, is said to have had a slimming down of the monarchy in mind even before he ascended the throne after the death of the Queen. However, since the resignation of Prince Harry, 38, and Duchess Meghan, 41, as senior royals two years ago, there have been fewer working members of the royal family anyway. In addition, Prince Andrew, 62, because of his involvement in the abuse scandal surrounding Jeffrey Epstein, † 66, and the subsequent civil lawsuit against him by Virginia Giuffre, 39, will never return to the service of the crown.

Therefore, according to Royal expert Charlie Lankston of the British “Daily Mail”, Lady Louise Windsor is currently being treated as the slimmed-down monarchy’s secret weapon. And indeed, the 18-year-old is stepping more and more into the limelight.

The Queen’s granddaughter steps into the spotlight

Lady Louise Windsor grew up near Windsor and is said to have spent a great deal of time with her grandmother. Edward and Sophie wanted to give their daughter a down-to-earth childhood and therefore decided not to allow her the title of princess. She made her royal debut at the age of seven as the flower girl at William and Kate’s wedding in 2011.

Especially in the past two years, the horse lover has become more and more present. Be it during the celebrations of Queen Elizabeth’s 70th jubilee, the Commonwealth Games or the funeral of the monarch. The royal has also already made a TV appearance: in the BBC documentary “Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers”, Louise remembered her beloved grandfather, with whom she shared the passion for carriage driving. It remains to be seen whether Lady Louise Windsor will actually play a more important role within the British royal family in the near future. But her young and refreshing nature should be a great asset for the modern monarchy that is being striven for.
