FC Bayern Munich plunges into the transfer summer

Konrad Laimer’s move from RB Leipzig to FC Bayern Munich has been considered perfect for months, but it’s not for a long time. Because the official announcement is missing. Soccer record champion Bayern Munich has sealed its first summer transfer. As the club confirmed, Konrad Laimer is moving from cup winners RB Leipzig to Munich, as expected. The Austrian international comes on a free transfer and has a four-year contract with Bayern until 2027.
“It’s a dream come true for me. FC Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world,” said the 26-year-old midfielder. The new Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen was delighted with the arrival of the “new, old DFB Cup winner. Hopefully we’ll be able to celebrate many more great victories and titles together here at FC Bayern.”
Laimer’s move to Munich has long been considered perfect, the central midfielder was considered the player of choice for Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann, who has since been fired. Laimer moved from RB Salzburg to Leipzig in 2017, for which he played 190 competitive games in six years.
Guerreiro transfer should cause more turmoil
Laimer will not remain Bayern’s only free transfer. According to media reports, the series champion is about to sign BVB defender Raphael Guerreiro. The Portuguese’s contract expires at the end of the month.
The left-back has already announced his departure from Dortmund. He is expected to sign a three-year contract with Bayern Munich in the coming days. There he meets his former coach Thomas Tuchel. After his involuntary departure from BVB in 2017, he never lost sight of him. During his time at Paris Saint-Germain, the Bayern coach is said to have tried to lure Guerreiro from the Ruhr to the Seine.
The versatile Guerreiro made a total of 224 competitive appearances for BVB, scoring 40 goals and providing 50 more assists. Again and again he had to struggle with minor injuries. There was also criticism of his defensive behavior, which was too half-hearted for a defender.
