Twelve cylinders are the dinosaurs of the automobile world. Your age is drawing to a close, because the electric meteor has long since struck and is changing the industry.
Despite this inevitable change, Lamborghini is once again launching the new Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae, a V12 sports car without electrical frills. One last rearing of the gasoline dinosaurs? Not at all. It is much more the big farewell gala at which the Aventador also says goodbye. Its successor is already in the starting blocks and will likely be a hybrid.
The last of an extraordinary era
The last series of the top model is garnished by the traditional Italian brand with some neat details, a slightly different look and of course a few more horsepower. “The Aventador LP 780-4 embodies the final, purest and timeless V12 from Lamborghini,” explains Lambo boss Stephan Winkelmann, “as the last Aventador, he will decide an extraordinary era. As the last of its kind, it stands for maximum performance and uncompromising performance. “
The Ultimea wouldn’t be an Aventador if it weren’t for the well-known 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine in the rear. The engineers found another 40 hp compared to the S and another 10 hp compared to the SVJ. As the name suggests, it has 780 hp (574 kW). The maximum torque of 720 Nm is at 6750 revolutions per minute. Even the last information about the drive is no secret for those who understand the model name of Lamborghini. The 4 at the end stands for four driven wheels.
Fast, faster, ultimate
As before, a seven-speed ISR transmission transmits engine power with automated shifting processes. The carbon fiber monocoque, which is as high-strength as it is light, has not changed, which means that the super sports car weighs around 1.6 tonnes when empty. He sprints to 100 km / h in 2.8 seconds, after 8.7 seconds the 200 mark falls and it only stops at 355 km / h. The Raodster (photos), also available as an Ultimae, passes both brands 0.1 seconds later and reaches the same top speed.
Aerodynamic masterpiece
The Lamborghini Avantador LP 780-4 Ultimae differs optically through a modified front that provides more contact pressure. The open mouth of the LP 780-4 brings additional airflow, which improves aerodynamic efficiency and cooling. In addition, the air flow around the wedge-shaped car has been improved.
The active rear wing can be adjusted to three different positions depending on the speed and the selected driving mode and improves the overall balance of the vehicle. The permanent all-wheel drive, the rear-wheel steering and the electronic systems are coordinated so that a sporty but safe oversteer is possible. In other words, the Lambo can drift like a rear-wheel drive car.
The Lamborghini Avantador LP 780-4 Ultimae is limited to 350 coupes and 250 roadsters. Of course, it can be customized according to the tastes of the selected clientele. At the weekend, the last V12 Dino celebrated its premiere at the Goodwood Festival in England. Since the SVJ costs from 473,000 francs, prices should start beyond 500,000 francs.
