Are you planning to treat yourself to an electric Lamborghini Urus SUV? We will have to wait a bit.

Before that, the Italian firm will decline its bestsellers in hybrid version.

Lamborghini (also) on the way to electric

Since 1963 and the presentation of the first 350 GTV at the Turin Motor Show, the Italian brand Lamborghini (which previously manufactured tractors) has specialized in sports vehicles with a “Veloce” trend. For 5 years now, it has also interfered in the world of the SUV, with its Urus.

According to the brand’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, this same Urus SUV still has a few good years ahead of it, with in particular the presentation of a hybrid version next year which could benefit from a 40L V8-based engine. 700 hp twin-turbo. But that’s not all, since a 100% electric version is also in the pipeline.

The Lamborghini Urus SUV not before… 2029!

Indeed, Stephan Winkelmann has confirmed the manufacturer’s roadmap for the coming years, with a first electric model which should be marketed by the year 2028. Regarding the Urus SUV, the 100% electric model would be scheduled for the following year, i.e. 2029.

Meanwhile, Lamborghini will play the hybrid card, with the Urus SUV in 2024, but also with the Aventador later this year (with a hybrid V12), not to mention the Huracan, which will also have entitled to its PHEV version next year thanks to a hybrid V8 engine.

Over the years, Lamborghini intends to offer a complete Urus range with three thermal versions (Urus, Urus Performante and Urus S), a hybrid version coming next year and a 100% electric version before the end of the decade.
