Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid on Thursday 22 September at the UN General Assembly urged the international community to use “of the force” if Iran developed nuclear weapons and reiterated its support for the creation of a Palestinian state “peaceful”. “The only way to prevent Iran from having nuclear weapons is to put a credible military threat on the table. And there, and only there, it will be possible to negotiate a longer and more solid agreement with them.declared Yaïr Lapid at the rostrum of the General Assembly. “It must be clear to Iran that if it goes ahead with its nuclear program, the world will not react with words, but will use force”he hammered.
Israel has been waging an intense diplomatic offensive in recent months to try to convince the United States and the main European powers (United Kingdom, France, Germany) not to renew the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program (JCPOA) of 2015 whose he Trump administration had withdrawn. For the past ten days, various officials have suggested that the agreement may not be renewed until at least mid-November, a delay that Prime Minister Lapid is trying to use to push Westerners to impose a tougher approach in their negotiations.
