As if to confirm, there was a large-scale operation in St. Michael on Wednesday. Tracer ammunition ignited the fire at the armed forces firing range there, and it is now under control. Nobody got hurt.
According to the armed forces, the so-called target area caught fire at the Ortnerhof shooting range at around 11.30 a.m., which is the slope behind the targets. The fire covered an area of around one hectare. “The fire is under control, we are about to ‘fire out'”, said Markus Schwaiger to the “Krone” shortly after 3 p.m. The fire brigade flies down the slope with drones to find remaining embers and then to extinguish them. “The cooperation between the organizations worked extremely well,” praised Schwaiger.
