Large retailers unite to reduce the electricity consumption of stores – 07/18/2022 at 10:47

(AOF) – The Perifem Federation, which brings together all the distribution players and their suppliers around environmental, energy, security and technological innovation concerns, is working on a crisis energy protocol which should be applied as of October 15. It will serve as a basis for all trade and distribution federations (CDCF, CNCC, FCA, FCD, etc.) with a view to generalizing these measures which will be presented to them on July 26.

The leaders of the largest brands (Leclerc, Carrefour, Système U, Auchan, Casino, Lidl, Monoprix, Franprix, Picard, etc.) have adopted this protocol, the main measures of which aim to turn off illuminated signs as soon as the store closes and to systematize the reduction in light intensity during the day. Not to mention the ambition to apply more sober energy management, like cutting off air renewal at night.

“This protocol must be long-term. It’s time for energy sobriety. This will profoundly change our consumption habits,” said Thierry Cotillard, president of the Perifem Federation.
